Hackers publish about 700 GB of information stolen from ADATA

The hackers behind the Ragnar Locker ransomware virus have posted on the Internet about 700 GB of files stolen from the ADATA company. A total of 13 archives are available, which supposedly contain confidential information from a Taiwanese manufacturer of RAM, solid-state drives and other devices.

Last Sunday, hackers posted the stolen files on the MEGA file hosting service and noted that access to them may soon be closed. The attackers were not mistaken, as the service soon actually blocked all posted links.

The list contained archives of various sizes, from 1 to almost 300 GB. It is difficult to determine what may be in the files by the name of the files, especially in the case of Archive # 1 and Archive # 2. Based on the names of other files, the attackers published ADATA financial information, nondisclosure agreements (NDAs) and other information about the Taiwanese manufacturer.

The publication of the files confirms that ADATA refused to pay ransom to hackers to recover the stolen data, and independently restored protection in its security system.



According to the representative of the hacker group Ragnar Locker, before encrypting access to the information located on the ADATA server, they stole a total of 1.5 TB of data. The hackers took their time because ADATA had very weak security protection on the corporate network. To what extent this statement is true is still unknown.

“In general, as usual, we offered them cooperation and assistance in closing the holes, as well as in restoring information, of course, promising not to publish in the public domain the information to which we got access. As it turned out, they do not greatly value their information, as well as the personal data of their partners, customers, employees and customers, ”said a spokesman for Ragnar Locker.

It should be noted that this is the second time that hackers have published information stolen from ADATA. Previously, they posted on the Web four small archives with a total volume of less than 250 MB. Curiously, they can still be downloaded from a file hosting service.
