The incident occurred at the end of October, when a cyber attack hit a third-party IT service provider.
Last weekend, cyber attack on third-party IT service providers stopped the movement of trains served by DSB – Denmark's largest railway company. The victim of the attack was the Danish company Supeo, which provides solutions for managing the assets of the enterprise to railway companies, transport infrastructure operators and state passenger services.
"Trains across the country stopped in the morning and started walking again only at one in the afternoon, DSB expects that border trains and long-distance trains will not go on schedule tomorrow.", – reported by local media.
According to a representative of DSB, the incident occurred due to an error in a security-critical IT system called "Den Digitale Rygsæk 2 ”. As a result of the attack, Digital Backpack 2 ( platform has been developed by Supeo ), which allows train drivers to access quickly important information using an iPhone or iPad.
Experts suggest that Supeo could have been attacked by cyber ransomware, but the company does not comment on the incident.
